we are reading this novel in our english class at school in germany and at first i was quite overwhelmed with the content and the mutiple character constellations. after watching your very informative video i’ve been convinced that it is a great book with many information intentions. you’ve made me think, that jonathan coe is a great author and made me want to read all of his other books. thank you for sharing your experience! i have also told my classmates about your video and hope they and maybe also you profit from it.

Thank you for your video. I really enjoyed watching it. I read the book twice.
It is a book about danger of nostalgia. All of us have tendency to look back nostalgically but to look forward should be realistic. I found book's timing very important, especially, after false prediction that Brexit will be quick and easy. As we found out, it was not like that at all. The Middle England received European Book prize 2019. I think it was symbolic moment giving the prize to British author at that time. Jonathan Coe deserved it.

I agree, for me, it is not sufficient but it is necessary for me to like a book that it does have a valuable message or explore interesting topics. I also really enjoyed this book when I read it.
