Some points to clarify:

-There is a difference of opinion regarding shaving off moustache. Some scholars issue permissibility for the moustache to be shaved off completely

- There is a difference of opinion on shaving arms, legs, chest, back.. although it is NOT impermissible, some scholars believe that there could be a connotation of imitation of women-- however this is because there is no explicit mention of shaving arms and legs

- Men are advised to shave their underarms and private areas AT LEAST once every 40 days. That is the MINIMUM. They are encouraged to do it weekly or however many times they need to. :) This is for hygienic reasons.

Hair removal is done for hygienic reasons and the areas that men are NOT allowed to shave off are mentioned in narrations:

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also set a time limit of forty days, and the hair should not be left any longer than that, because of the hadeeth of Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him), who said: He set us a time limit of no more than forty days for trimming the moustache, clipping the nails, plucking the armpit hairs and shaving the pubic hair. (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 10/284 and Muslim, 1/222).

Technically it isn't haram to shave beard and mustache. Just sunnah to have. It's all about personal preferences.

This may sound stupid but I didn’t realize that doctors had to shave you in the area where you are having surgery at. For example when I had my gallbladder removed almost all of my stomach was shaved.

That’s interesting. Another scholar demanded that pubic hair had to be removed. Even trimming was not allowed, but you have to wax or use a blade. Apparently there are many different opinions.
