10 of the Darkest Star Trek Timelines

For a franchise built around the sentiment of working towards an ideal utopia, Star Trek is known for creating some very dark storylines. These are often crafted within time periods and/or dimensions that are different than the ones we are used to seeing our crews within. Here, I have listed 10 of the Darkest Timelines that Star Trek has come up with to date, but remember this is only my opinion so please let us know if I missed any in the comments. If they included the Trek comics, they could have added TNG's "The Worst of Both Worlds" to this list. This one featured the E-D being pulled into an Alternate Universe in which the Borg did win their initial battle against the other Enterprise and took occupation of Earth. Together, the two crews had to work together to finally defeat the Borg and set things straight.

And even though TNG's "Parallels" didn't make the cut here, one of the AU's we saw (albeit briefly) was one in which the evil Borg completely overwhelmed the Federation. Remember that scene where we see the heavily-bearded Riker pleading not to go back to their home universe before his Enterprise was destroyed by the other? That was really scary!

Interesting topic! Year of Hell is a great one. I'm amazed how much I have rewatched Voyager. Not something I would have thought would happen during its initial run. Better than remembered series.

Year of Hell was a great 2 Parter.
I wish it had been a full season, or at least half of a season.

Phantasms from the Next Generation was an interesting exploration.

I think Bread and Circuses, the Omega Glory and Miri should be included, since they are "Earths" that went wrong, and probably should have been written as alternate timelines or universes.

It would be cool to see a Mirror Universe version of Picard.
