Back in 1998 it was wonderful to hear Goldsmith deploying his full range of composing and orchestrating skills again. After 'Total Recall' he deliberately tried to find a wider variety of films to score. This led to some very quirky choices ('Mom And Dad Save The World'). Bit by bit as the 1990's progressed, Goldsmith moved back towards larger scale scores. 'Mulan' was the most complex and immediately impactful.
