Verifying Trigonometric Identities Pt 1

Using the fundemental identities and the Pythagorean Identities, I go over multiple examples of verifying trigonometric identities.

It is very important in proofs that you do not handle it like an equation moving terms and factors from side to side.

I was corrected that what I am trying to prove should not be within the body of the proof. This implies it has already been assumed to be true. So proofs should be shown like this example:
cos^2(x)(tan^2(x)+1)=1
Proof:
cos^2(x)(tan^2(x)+1)=cos^2(x)*sec^2(x)
=cos^2(x)(1/cos^2(x))
=1

I have never loathed anything more in math than trigonometric identities especially since algebra hasn't ever really been my strong suit. Thanks for shedding some light.

It's nice to see a professor that doesn't just do the problems, but explains them step by step. Keep up the great work! :)

You sir, are a legend. You make it so easy to learn this, while my teacher just makes it difficult. Thank you!

Thank you SO much, I have been studying this in my pre-calc class for almost 5 weeks and this is the first time I have understood everything. You keep a steady pace while explaining the algebraic reasoning behind everything and it helps SO much, you're amazing!

I love to hear when I can make the light shine so bright!
So BAM!!...get those videos watched and go show them in that math class what a confident, prepared student can do!!!

I watched this video once, and everything flew over my head. Came back to this video 2 weeks later and I'm baffled at how well the pieces are starting to come together. Thanks, Prof Rob, BAM!

Thank you again, Mr. Tarrou, for helping me understand a part of Mathematics that I didn't get; I have my Pure Mathematics 1 & 2 exams this Wednesday and next Thursday, in which Trig and Differentiation and Integration are a huge part of them.

Before, I couldn't do any Trig proofs AT ALL, could barely differentiate, but I could Integrate quite well (for whatever odd reason), and now I feel as if I might just get an A in these exams thanks to your videos!

Have a great day, and again — thank you very much!

it's amazing what a difference having a positive attitude twords teaching material has on the student learning, my teacher is very unenthusiastic about teaching but your positive attitude helps so much with having the drive to learn the material. BAM!
