It's not a dumb question. A bar in my hometown required you to get the key to get in. 😅

It's not dumb... as long as people ask kindly 😌

Nothing is a dumb question if someone is asking nicely enough

I’m from LA and a lot of places have this to prevent homeless people lol

Definitely not a dumb question. A lot of places do this, and it’s extremely annoying!

That's kinda passive aggressive in big cities we need keys or codes to use the restroom...maybe if there from outta town they wouldn't know any better

Damn near everywhere requires a key where I live! It's infuriating

Lots of bathrooms need a key most establishments aren’t a one person stall
Doesn’t seem that dumb ‘

What's dumb is you only have a one occupant bathroom.

I work at a gas station with our bathroom being in a separate building, we have to give a key but we now don't let any customer use the bathroom because they would give the key to one of the homeless and we wouldn't know until we were looking for the key. We now don't let anyone use it unless its actually an emergency but even then it's our decision because it's currently being used as storage for an abundance of products

Not a dumb question. The facility I go to everyday right now requires a key for all of their bathrooms which are single stall.

That customer is so me. Takes me a while to figure out the simplest things. Took me forever to learn how to butter toast and to spit. My daughter says I’m a virtual font of useless information though. 😂

Iv never gone to a bar or restaurant that only had 1 stall so I'd assume if door was locked I'd need a key. Many businesses have a locked door n key access for customers only, so I wouldn't see that as a dumb question.

In anchorage this is fairly common to prevent homeless people from camping out. Especially downtown.

In states with lots of homeless people most places don't have public bathrooms or require a key. It's a bit of a shock at gas stations and fast food places but that's why people from out of town ask that question

I had a customer ask me the same thing, I told her someone was likely using it; no joke she comes back 3 minutes later and demands we open it because she has been waiting “forever”

I can't imagine. I'm used to going in and out of the bathroom like it's nobody's business... because it isn't anyone's business lol

"so why is it locked?" because..someone..is in there WHAT 🤣🤣

I resonate with that customer. Bathrooms culture in Portland is so tight it's honestly a pleasant surprise when we don't have to bug a service worker to judge our wealth before granting us a key
