Best advice I've heard from this guy. Had everything in wrestling but was too easily penned

That's been my mindset since day 15 or so. I figured all my offense was so weak and noticeable, I better work escapes and sweeps. Even when I thought guys who started at the same time were schooling me. They were practicing their offense, I was practicing defense. Then my defense caught up.

True words

my coach he drilled this in his weekly training 3 days a week escaping submissions and position before submission

by the height of my training with him i could rarely be submitted and very often would execute escapes at perfect timing from the constant repetition of escaping these submissions.

Man i miss training

So you’re telling me wrestlers have a huge advantage when they first learn Jui-jitsu?

I mean look at Gordon, he's yet to be passed in the past couple years ever. Hence the greatest.

Thats pretty much the basic requirement for blue belt, isn't it? Nate Landwehr trained in the gym i go to and would always be the first one in class to say something like "juijitsu? Just stand the f up!" Dude is a maniac 😂

Tbh isnt defence only thing you can learn because offence is do difficult to pull off as a beginner

Other people: So what do you do in BJJ?
Me: I escape and I guard

I know bjj is a form of fighting but it’s silly calling them fighters when all they do is bjj

Your first goal is to not get punched. Your second goal is to survive the fight. Then this other stuff.
