Did AMD just save their older graphics cards? #shorts

AMD surprised everyone this weekend by releasing Adrenalin 22.6.1, an update primarily focused on the GCN 1, 2 and 3 cards they discontinued support for in 2021. This is a nice gesture that is appreciated at a time when new cards are still hard to find for some, but it doesn't seem to be a long-term solution. The driver is still listed as "Legacy", meaning it's more than likely a one-off, and not a sign that there will be driver support in the future. Only time will tell!

Yeah, the discontinuation of GCN 1-3 felt a bit arbitrary.
Weird thing is that the current drivers still have code paths for those.
Could be that both Polaris and Vega reuse it to some degree.

Maybe it's worth some exploratory testing to see how well these perform against the custom drivers?

Thanks for doing these. I still have a pair of RX580's in the boxes.

I was using my R9 390 until recently when I decided to get an upgrade due to lack of drivers, but now AMD does this. Fml

the 22.6.1 for Legacy GCN basically rebadged version of OEM WU Driver 27.20.20908.1002

I still use 21.5.2 instead of 22.6.1. 22.6.1 has like -5% performance compared to 21.5.2, but that's just based on a few games I tested.
