Microsoft is planning to hike its Xbox Game Pass Ultimate pricing again in September, alongside launching a new “standard” subscription that doesn’t include day-one access to first-party Xbox games. The Xbox maker has started emailing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers warning of a price increase to $19.99 a month that starts on September 12th, a $3 increase over the current $16.99 a month pricing.

PC Game Pass subscribers will also see a price hike in September, with the service moving from $9.99 to $11.99 per month and maintaining access to day-one titles. The price increases come just before Microsoft plans to add Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and other big first-party Xbox games to its Game Pass service later this year. The price increases will largely affect Ultimate subscribers who make up the vast majority of Game Pass subscribers and come just over a year after the last Game Pass price hikes raised rates by $1–$2 per month.

PlayStation raised their prices last year. From The Essential plan, increasing to $80 from its current price of $60, while Extra increased to $135 from $100. I didn’t hear you crying about that. I guess it’s only ok when PlayStation does it.

Life hack, if a subscription is 20 dollars a month just buy 240 dollars worth of xbox games a year and keep it forever. Theres no reason why anyone would want to play everything that exists.

We all knew this was coming, and it's not as bad as the 33% increase Sony did with PS Plus recently, which is an objectively worse service.

From what it looks like Ultimate will still have day one and cloud. The way people are reporting it makes it sound like they are getting rid of it completely.

The only problem I have with forcing gamepass ultimate. It’s including gamepass for pc. Say you don’t have a pc tho. You now have to pay for something now that you could never use.

Been on the fence of cancelling Game Pass Ultimate. Sounds like it’s time. The Series X has been my worst purchase to date. It just sits there while my Switch, Steam Deck, and PS5 get all the play.

You don’t take into account all the third party day one releases on gamepass. It’s still worth it for a-lot of people.

I am a small business owner. I've had to raise my prices a few times.

It's business 101, you pay for your overhead by passing the amount to the customers.

If you don't do this, you're using your own profits to pay for overhead costs.

It doesn't matter how big your company is. It adds up fast.. Most people don't start the day thinking how much they are in the hole.

Business owners do!
