King of the Hill Season 6, Episode 2 - Soldier of Misfortune aired on Dec 9, 2001. Therefore, Dale is in Gen II Pokemon (Gold/Silver NA release: October 2000)

The coolest part is that this uses GEN 2 sprites and animations, not overused fire red stuff. And Gen 2 is my favorite of pokemon :)
