I remember buying this copy of Guitar World in Wells, Somerset, UK and reading it in a works van while an apprentice electrician and learning my guitar chops. Seems like yesterday! 🤓

I'd love to see more of these videos, going through magazines. Brings back some great memories.

Al Pitrelli was my first guitar teacher. Took lessons with him for a couple of years in the mid 80s when I was a teenager. Monster player. His father was my high school principal, which made a few of those lessons that I took at his house utterly terrifying.

I lived inside this magazine from about 1982 until 1992. I had to get a real job and grow up. Bummer dude.

These videos are fun. Going through the old magazines and seeing gear you forgot about that you now have to hunt down haha

Those early Night Ranger albums (especially first three) are killer and under respected. Jeff Watson & Brad Gillis were a killer duo and yep, Jack Blades is a great singer & songwriter and an amazing performer. Definintely check out the two Damn Yankees records. They're a blast. Also, the Shaw/Blades record was really good.

Very cool man. I have some from the early 80's and late 80's I kept. I actually got them from a friend who plays guitar who's father was the governor of Indiana here, and who's son I went to high school with. He went to the school Paul Gilbert went to in Hollywood, or CA..
I still have like 10 of them. The ads for the preamps and guitars, etc, are just too cool.
I saw you on Leon and Troy's Aussie Pod Cast. Excellent.. Please do another some day man! Great stuff..
Be safe and well my friend.
From the heartland. South Central Indiana. USA

Dude! I am 47 and bought this issue when it when it came out The red Standard was my favorite of Zakk's guitars. Thanks for this. Love your channel and all your content. We have very similar taste. As I write this, I am sitting next to a shelf with a Matchless HC30, 2 early 70s Marshall heads, a blackface Bassman and a Bogner Ecstasy!

Now you're talkin'. Got more or less every Guitar World since 1991, and databased all the TABs. All you gotta do is understand how to read rhythms and apply it to the TAB (with neck knowledge) and there are no limits to what you can play. Just taught a lesson on how to play the parts to Breathe by Breaking Benjamin and I'd never even heard the song till the end of the lesson when we already had the parts down and could jam along straight away. Cheers dude! Guitar World Rules!

You're making me feel old, sir LOL! That was the the summer before my senior year of high school... 🤣

I actually saw the Stevie Salas Colorcode open for Satriani in DC earlier that year! "Just Say Ozzy" has been OOP for decades. My guess is to avoid paying royalties to Jake.

That was Quiet Riot, Michael... 🤣

These are great. Thanks. I was probably in a drought of buying guitar mags in 90, probably because I was a broke student.
