Just wanted to say thank you. I bought a 30+ yr old house with an inground pool. The light hasn't worked for years. I tried everything in my power (before calling a professional) to pull the the cord free. That sucker wouldn't budge! Just poured half a bottle of dish soap in the pipe...BOOM! I'm sure everyone has a different situation. Your advice worked for mine! Much appreciated.

As a pool service and repair technician I applaude you sir.

There are many ways to do a task but this is the best way! There are far to many wannabe pool guys out in the field doing crap work and putting others in unsafe situations. A nice video indeed

Great video - first time pool owner here, and the current light in my pond is trashed. I have a new LED light to run about 20 feet from the light box to the pond. Very helpful to see the tips about tying a pull-string, and knotting to the wire, and using dish soap in order to pull smoothly through the conduit. Great job - thank you!

3 hours ago I couldn’t get the wiring to budge. Now it’s free and ready for new wire. Thanks! Technique worked great.

thank you for your knowledge, could you educate me on the #8 insulated bonding wire that was inside you conduit, could that compromise the pull? have you pulled the bonding cable out ? this job it was no problem, i am concerned about my pull,

How do I find out what type of light brand is it? My parents inground pool was put in in the mid 1980s. The whole housing/ballast need to swapped out and we already bypass the timer box and I already put a new switch in and GFCI outlet. I lost current from the switch to the ballast. The ballast terminals are corroded and I figure the wire cable has a short somewhere. I like to swap it to a LED.

This is one of the best light videos on YouTube . Awesome, I love seeing how people do things compared to me, I use the conduit rope a lot

And yes heaps of soap lol

Nice video, very helpful. my question is this, is there pool water that seeps into the conduit up to the level of the pool? I tried pulling on my chord but it would not budge, it looked like it was held in place by a plastic gasket.

Thanks,
Lloyd

What to do if the wire fishing breaks in the middle when pulling in the new light?

Can you post a close up of the connection between the string and wire? Can't see it in the video.

I am having trouble getting original cable out of the conduit despite using dish detergent. Where can I buy or what is the model number of the tool you mentioned that may help pull the cable?
