They don't hold on to their value. I had an R-Line 190 DSG with a load of extras. Car was £41k new. I did 28k miles in 18 months and the best offer on trade-in was £22k. My advice is don't buy a new one. There are loads of ex-demonstrators about with 3k miles and 4 to 6 months old. Easily save yourself £10k on new price. As far as reliability is concerned, it was completely faultless. Absolutely brilliant car.

Great video - but I have an allspice and the review of the third row doesn't reflect my experience. You can easily move the 2nd row forward (and nudge the front seats forward a little too) to find a balance of legroom. Often an adult in the third row would be behind a kid or vice versa. So it works well as a 5 plus 2. It's a stretch to call the Kodiaq a "proper" 7 seater by comparison.

Thx, v good vid and nice sum up. Got the tig 2 190 tdi diesel and fully agree with your test 👍🏾😎

edit: heart the short version is made in Wolfsburg/ Germany and the long version in Mexico. But maybe they already changed it. Personally would prefer German build cars...

It do believe that it is not a cool video to place a Tiguan R-Line besides a Tiguan Allspace (Trendline)...
The Allspace would look the same in front of it would have R-Line too, except some very hard to see little differences...

And that little difference in length produces a huge difference in the inside of you order it as 5 seater. I do have the AS as 5 seater and the Tiguan boot is way smaller than the one from the AS then. THAT is when it comes to the AS 👍

It is not true that the Kodiak is way cheaper. Configure both with the same engine, gearbox and 2/4wd level and nearly same trim/extras level, then the difference is not really big.

For the next it is nonsense to compare it with the X1 in the inside because the BMW is way more expensive then the VW. You can compare the Q3 with the X1 because they are in the same premium segment but not the Tiguan!

PS: sorry that "key hide thing" is ridiculous and I hope that should have been a joke 😉

They look different at the front because they’re different specs. The RLine spec AllSpace has the same front end as the RLine Tiguan in this video. 👍👍

I see a difference between the rear seats of these two cars.
Tiguan has a very small storage tray which you showed us at 06:47 near both edges of the seats to put some keys or similar small things. But tiguan allspace doesn’t, am i right ?
If i’m right it means total width of the rear seats of tiguan allspace is more than normal tiguan. It means families can put 2 child seats on rear seats and their mother or a nanny can have a space to sit between two child seats. In normal tiguan it’s impossible because there is just 20-25 cms of space between two child seats.
Can you correct me ?

Oh man! That R-Line is sweet! Here in the US we cannot get the smaller Tiguan nor can we get the diesel. Dual clutch transmissions aren’t on the Tiguans here. I like the steering wheel as well. It looks like it’s from the GTI and GLI over here. Shift paddles for the DSG is nice. Americans seem to hate diesels, dual clutch transmissions, and sporty suspensions. Not me though. Maybe I’m a secret European.

That was good I like the presenter too. The ability to fold the front seat is a great feature for me.

Got the same as tested here, the R-Line Tech 230 PS. Absolutely love it, bit of power with plenty of toys thrown in. MPG is a bit crap but then I had an S4 Avant before that average 16.4MPG over 2 years so it's much better than that! No mention in the video of the looks of the car which to me is important, I think the R-Line spec with the 20" wheels looks fantastic, even more improved by adding running boards. Space wise for 2 adults, 2 growing children and 2 German Shepherds there's plenty of room, no where near as cramped as my old car.
