Several people narrowly escaped being hit by a train passing through Flagstaff on Christmas Eve, and the incident was caught on video.

At around 1:45 p.m. near Route 66 and Ponderosa Parkway, a car was partially stopped on the railroad tracks as the railroad crossing arms came down. The people inside the car saw the train headed toward them and walked away from the car.

In a video sent to FOX 10 by Jeff Weingartz, you can see the people walking away from the car, as well as some other cars that were very close to the railway. Weingartz said that a train had passed, so the cars drove up to the crosswalk, and then the arms came down again and another train passed in another direction.

Idiot wanted to be up one car length at the light, instead of sitting back before the gate. The driver needs their license revoked if they even have one.

We are very selfish nowadays we all want to go first, get to our destination first, faster and easier

Geniuses at work: Genius 1: It is better to keep my car on the tracks and let us all get killed by the oncoming train than to drive through a flimsy barrier and risk scratching my car. Genius 2: The freight train pulling thousands of tons of cars at 50 mph will stop in its tracks (pun intended) if I get out of the car and wave it down, thus saving us all.

Sign literally says don't stop on tracks.

I have driven in Flagstaff many times and I cannot believe how many cars and pedestrians are NOT paying attention to approaching freight and Amtrak trains and in this video, you see an example of that.

The sign didn't work. It said "Do not stop on tracks". Must be a malfunctioning sign lol

That is not narrowly escaping. They were on the other side of the crossing gate. Did I miss something?

It's always hilarious how americans don't know how to use train crossings, so many train accidents all the time. Why would you ever stop in the only place a train can be at one specific time? Drive 2 feet to left on the sidewalk instead of parking on the tracks, no problems at all. Zero. But no, let's all park on the only place a train can be...necks were also invented for a reason on crossings.

Pretty much AZ is a train wreck at this point.

I love how these idiots actually think flailing their arms for the train to stop will actually do something!

If the driver had a license, it should be revoked immediately

According to police, the train involved had stopped near Ponderosa Pkwy and E. Route. 66, and when the train began to move again, the victim, identified as Johah Bullard, 27, was crawling beneath it and was hit.

I go through this crossing all of the time. It amazes me how many people decide to sit on the tracks each day. I hope people have learned from this.
