can you comment on what sort of ML training you did with the quad 3090 set-up? often those are PCIe bandwidth limited but here you have a more mining-oriented set-up. Curious what sort of pipeline you found works here, I imagine it's GPU / Tensor Core limited then instead of memory / bus limited (e.g. often Imagenet)

Bizarre video. Can you offer more details about your ML application? This looks like a classic crypto mining rig to me. Why would someone do this, over using a cloud solution? I fine tune and train models on my home PC (1 3090) but cant imagine using a setup like this. What contest did you win to cover the cost of all these GPUs and hardware? What was the prize? I'm unfamiliar with this. If someone is capped by speed, there is no shortage of cloud solutions to scale...

This guy is just showing off, all of the GPUs are connected with mining risers which will dramatically reduce the bandwidth needed for machine learning, also that threadripper doesn't support 4 GPUs because it has 12 cores or whatever, what decides that is the number of PCIe lanes, which threadripper has plenty of.

The reason why you would want to go for threadripper is so you have enough PCIe lanes to have all 4 GPUs connected in PCIE x16

Which cannot be done with a consumer grade Ryzen or Intel core processors... And mining risers...

Omg lmao 🤣 dude i thought my pc was a bad ass tbh.. I traded my 97 corvette for a dual 3090 ti with a threadripper 64 core pro and same as you 256 gig ram and I haven't even been able to stress it... it finishes bench tests quickly it runs games absolutely amazing. Now I do gotta upgrade my monitor though I'm using a msi optix 32 curved it's a 1080p 165hz and I love it but.... I'm gonna jump to the samsung g5 or g7 it depends I got hit with alot of bills recently lol but I used to a huge xbox series and ps4 ps5 console player and my other pc I built myself and it's a 3080ti ftw with a amd 3800X 128gig ram it's a beast itself but I still choose consoles over it 90% of the time... until dude brought that dual 3090ti n thread ripper 64core cpu I haven't touched the consoles lmao its been 2 months now and I'm inlove with it... and now I run across this 🤣 and like holy shit 4 3090s!! Lmao
