Dr. Danny ~ you say that
Le soir = the afternoon
And
Bonsoir = good afternoon.

BUT
Le soir = the evening
Bonsoir = good evening.

~~~~
Bonjour = good day said in the morning or the afternoon (until it starts to get dark). It this means “good morning” or “good afternoon” depending on the time of day.
Bonjour breaks down to
bon jour
Bon... The n is not said, just an open O. the "our" sound of French. That´s the first "nasty". What is that? It´s almost like you see a dead animal while walking, and you say, "oo-ehr". Want to work on both the description and the sound. Maybe think of some French snot in a hotel or restaurant, "You're not welcome here". Or like you go to say "your" and a grape gets caught in your throat. The second sound is "oir" which is wah. The third is "uit" which is we. Summary: oir = wahr, oui =we, uit=we, ien=yah. ment=mon lez =ending z makes the syllable sounded, unlike elle. Easy.
