Hey friends, Pastor Matt Chandler recently sat with Lecrae to discuss why pastors fail. This comes at a time when we're seeing more and more pastors fail in the news every week! But what is the real issue? Is Chandler's answer my answer? Let's get right into it :)

People (not just ministers or pastors) fail because they are not discipled & held accountable for their lives.

I know we all fail in life but it is quite amazing how some people aren’t sorry until they get caught 😩

Hey Nate, I just want to thank you for the great work you do. I came to Christ at the end of last year as a young adult, and was looking for guidance in my faith. I've been discouraged and made skeptic of Christianity in the past by the way social media magnifies the evil-doing of certain pastors and uses it to generalise the church, and social media saying those people are not held accountable. Through your videos as well as other youtubers and the ministry of the church I am now in, I have learned that this is not true, and that even if evil pastors answer to nobody, they must eventually answer to the TRUE God. Thank the Lord for the work you do and for having the Lord put you on my path to salvation. You've changed my views on accountability in the church and the responsibilities and actions of us christians

I've been betrayed by my pastor on a very deep level. I looked at him as a father. I'm still healing. I never blamed God though. I moved churches and went no contact with this man for my own sake.

The two churches I attended in the years since then showered me with love and helped correct lies the enemy told me about myself and God. People fall away because they want to do so.

Ultimately it's up to them to lay their burdens before God and allow Him to comfort them. It's hard but it can be done.

A pastor who cannot be fired is ripe for failure

Pastors fail because of ego and a lack of accountability.
And, for significant objective failings, blame should be laid at the feet of both the shepherd and the lost sheep.

This is good. I wish the pastor I followed for 26 years had this attitude. What started as a church and ministry with a beautiful vision ended because our pastor did not make himself accountable. The Lord has kept me and I have worked to keep following despite what my pastor did. However, I do know some who have left following Jesus because of it. This is serious. Thanks for doing this one Nate.

10 months ago I left my church after playing ‘Nathan’ and confronting my beloved pastor. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life to confront him (by a long shot) and now I spend much of my time gaslighting myself into believing I am a Judas and not worthy to be part of the body. I am literally frightened to go to another church in fears that I’d blow it up too. So I can say with 100% certainty moral failures of Pastors are very very damaging indeed.

Lack of accountability and unwise practices that can stem from hubris.

Both! The stumbling blocks and the offended are accountable

I followed James MacDonald’s ministry to an unhealthy level and when he was surrounded by scandals and controversies I was mad at God. Years later, I learned that I was idolizing the pastor and not the message. The Bible taught me discernment and now I learn with an open mind and heart but remember that all teachers fall short and are human. Do not put people on a pedestal. Additionally, even people who end up in controversy and scandal may have taught righteousness and truth. Glean the truth of the Lord - always test it against the word. New Patreon, just got the book club book today. I appreciate you!!!❤❤

I'm not a Chandler fan, but he had accountability better than most pastors of churches I've been at. Most of the elder governed churches I've been at the elders all work for the pastor. They protect him to protect their jobs. Without people in the elders group who are lay leaders with other income sources, elders boards tend to be the pastor's guys.

I love your content. Thank you. One of the last things you said really struck me. Many fallen pastors never thought they would fall (or that it would not happen to them). If any Christian, especially a pastor, does not understand that their flesh is capable of any evil then are already set up to fall. The enemy tells us lies that speak to our disordered desires which are supported if not applauded by the world. That comes at us all. Be humble, aware, and armed (Eph 6).

Just wanna say thank you for covering all kinds of hard topics! I agree with your statements about staying accountable, and also our desperate need to be in deep intimacy with God daily. Thank you, Nate, for all of your insight! May God bless you and keep you :')

Some are pushed to be pastor's but people don't know that they in their personal life don't really meet the prerequisites for the position and are lacking in household stuff you can't see.

Man I wish this video was longer 🙏🏿 I think most pastors fail because they count the cost before starting!!! They start to build without considering that it will cost them everything. When they get to the payment part and have insignificant funds it all comes crashing down
