I have just taken delivery of the 745e after having had successive 640ds, a previous model 730d and previous model S Class 320d
I’m still getting used to the concept of a hybrid, and I’m not fully convinced as the range is a paltry 24miles and not the official 36 miles.
However, what a car! Extremely comfortable to drive, well weighted, supremely well put together, the technology is staggering, with 20’’ alloys it has a lovely solid in-offensive stance and in sports mode it morphs into a different beast.
The only flaw is to do with the interior styling around the switchgear which should have been a little more modern; say TFT screens a.k.a Audi A8 and S class, then this car would be a total package.
This car is hugely understated and pure German excellence. I would have this car any day over the bland and uninspiring A8 and the ostentatious S class. If you are looking to buy one of these you should; you will not be disappointed and the grill grows on you as it has an understated presence on the road.
Best car I have had in years and I honestly can’t think what more BMW could have done with this car.
