Показать описание
1963 What Does A Girl Do? (Was surprised to see that this wasn't already on YouTube, so thought I'd put it up)The Shirelles, group members were Shirley Owens(later Alston- Reeves) Doris Coley, Beverly Lee and Micki Harris.Good friends Shirley and Beverly started singing together just for fun when they used to babysit. They asked Micki to join them and then Doris after hearing her powerful voice in the school choir. One day they were fooling around singing in the school gym and they got caught by the teacher. She said they should enter the school talent contest or stay behind after school. They chose the talent show.Shirley wrote"I Met Him On A Sunday" especially for it.They recieved a standing ovation when they performed and everybody loved it.One of their friends persuaded them to go and sing it for her mum Florence Greenburg who also loved it.She released it as a single for them in 1958.Their favourite female group was Arlene Smith and The Chantels and they wanted a name as close as possible to theirs. So they came up with THE SHIRELLES spelled from Shirley's name.
Better known for their 1960 number one "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" hit."Dedicated To The One I Love" "Mama Said" "Foolish Little Girl" "Baby It's You" "Soldier Boy" and many more wicked tunes.
