Hey I'm not weird
(Flashbacks to filming myself driving up to microcenter in a barbie mustang power wheels)
Ok, maybe a LITTLE weird...

Im working on backing up my own Wii u & 3DS games. Pretty silly to sell or buy a big rom pack when, if you wanted to, the games are online in the "usual" spots. Don't pay a pirate.
No remorse, no regret...

I like rambling Bob. Especially when it's rgb related! Thanks for good content

I'll admit, I saw this interview but had no idea who Tore was so I tapped out. I think before any intros or anything else taking 30-45 seconds at the start of these videos giving the elevator pitch of who this person is and why we should care would help. Now that I know he hand mad a Genesis dev kit I'm interested and will go back to watch!

Thanks for the weekly update!

I just had an awesome idea - get one of those smoky transparent shells for like the SNES or the Genesis, and build in there! You'd probably need to cut it up for space/ventilation, but maybe with a low-spec, slim form factor build you could get by with minimal changes? Would be awesome to see the cartridge slot used for like a 2.5" SATA drive or a USB hub for flash drives, things like that. Maybe the front controller ports could be used for USB controllers?

19:11 made me remember those Jeff Goldblum iMac ads... "Why beige?"

It's definitely a disc!

I think the best looking PC was the earlier Dell precision series. T5500. You're right, PC's really are ugly though. Your PC needs a turbo button and a led display showing the clock speed.

Yay! Wednesday retro goodness!

Yeah I know I'm repeating myself, just dropping a few algorithm engagement points.

Discs are acceptable vernacular! Just about anything beats the nails-on-chalkboard that is “vinyls” or “a vinyl”

Regarding interviewing Data Discs it may be a no go. I tried to do so when they were first getting set up and I think they both didn't have the time and due to NDAs weren't able to really talk about anything.

Theyre great though and tend to get back in touch eventually so all the best with this endeavour. Might be worth talking to the audio engineer who does all the remastering (Nigel Cook? I think?) as it'd be really interesting to hear that side of the story.

It's one thing to archive but I agree that straight up selling ill gotten gains via USB or something is straight up garbage.

That Open-source HDMI switch might be something ubiquitous if there were a way to upgrade it to a full Matrix switch with audio stripping.

I had to settle for using a 16-port KVM with only one output because nobody makes a matrix switch where you can route USB peripherals and DAC down the audio signal, or even just use toslink or something.

With regards to PC cases, I personally miss the clear, colored plastic of Y2K computers. Anything that's clearly ripping off the apple Imac G3, but that adds silver, organic oval buttons and such.

Since RGB lights and fans are all the rage, you should do a case full of lighting patterns that look like sub pixels or some such, in actual red, green, and blue. Maybe make the box look like a pvm somehow?

I agree there aren't nearly enough weird PC's. Especially ones that have some molded plastic you pretty much never get that anymore.

Teenage Engineering had one lately that was sort of interesting but that's about it.

The Hot Wheels setup is dope. Makes me want to find a budget-friendly alternative to what Shank did, and use a weird case that suits me. I'd love something fitting a tight budget, built for versatility, that I could use for gaming and general purpose stuff and upgrade over time.

On the PC end please look into making one of the Model Space, Space ship builds into a computer. All of them would be AMAZING to add more functionality to.

Re crazy PC cases, in my experience if you’re talking 90s and older (i.e. older than Win XP) people want silly money for bare cases. I built a Win98 gaming PC a few years ago and it’s basically period-correct except for the case. I looked online for an old beige box but people were asking like nearly $100 for them. So I ended up buying a new modern case for half the price.
