For us Maltese the word 'saħħa' is used to mean both health and goodbye.

I feel like both people were only guessing the words rather than trying to work them out based on how similar or distant they are. Most of the words that Dan didn't understand were almost exactly the same in Maltese, which gave the impression that he doesn't speak Maltese.

Maltese is close to the Algerian and Tunisian dialect
is to different with Lebanon and middle east

I am an Egyptian Arab and many of his words were Arabic, that were not recognized, which mean what he said in other accents like Iva = Aywa = Yes, also yes Sihha means Health and can be said as a good bye to mean “see you later in good health” and shortened to Sihha, and many many other words like Zmien, Dunya... etc

This guy isn't a reliable source of linguistic information. She was right. Sahha also means 'health'. 'Dunya' to 'Dinja'...was that so hard? 'Zaman; / Zmien', again same thing.

Maltese is very close to Tunisian dialect. I understand most of it.

As a Turkish Literature teacher, I'm really surprised. Some words LİTERALLY same! It's because (specially after 15.century) we took so many Arabic words, and we still use them.

His accent isn't considered Maltese, it's very American, and seems to only know it at the surface. It would have been better to see the comparison with a fluent Maltese speaker, for accuracy

Maltese is descendant from Sicily-Arabic descendant from Tunisian ( as Sicily and Malta was conquered by Tunisians in 800s ) . Levantine accents are too far from this branch .
