How to Start KX500 (Cold-Start & Warm-up)

Cold Starting Kawasaki KX500.
Sometimes it can be really difficult (feels almost impossible). When you learn.. its not that hard starting.
'my eng is bad but maybe this vid helps little.

Good vid, had a few hours on the big KX bought my '98 new and traded it on an '04 when I heard it was the run out model. I agree with the start up ritual but I might add, when you kick it, keep the throttle closed and always wear your boots 'coz that kickstarter will rip your leg open, like it did mine one day when I had a pair of runners on. Ambulance and 20 stitches later,  thank you Doctor.Never needed to lean it over first before starting but I guess gravity always finds it's feet. They're a nice bike to ride, it'll pull the wheel up in 5th without a problem, when you get some traction, I used to love doing that just for a smile ..

The lean over fills the carb a bit more kinda priming it and so does couple slow revolutions on kicker sucks in a bit of fuel .

Got 200 plus hours on the KX500. They start Ok . Takes a little while for them to warm up though. I always gave them at least 5-6 minutes before I clicked into first gear.

The KX500 was thought to be the ugliest bike out of the 500 lineup. But it was the beast, it had more HP than the CR500 cuz it had the powervalve. I have a CR500 but I envy this bike. I want this bike. The only way I can start up mine is to pull up choke, full throttle with 2 short kicks, lean bike the side till gas comes out of carb, align to TDC and Kick it like there is no tomorrow. I carry a bucket to the side to give me kicking leverage.
