Pricing Packages For An MSP. How Much To Charge Monthly!

Are you a Managed Service Provider (MSP) struggling to figure out how to price your services? Or maybe you're a business owner looking to understand the pricing models and costs associated with MSP services. Either way, this video is for you.

In this video, we'll cover everything you need to know about how to price MSP services. We'll explore the different pricing strategies that MSPs use, such as charging per user, per device, or per service tier. We'll also dive into the specific services that MSPs typically offer, including network monitoring, patching, security, and helpdesk support.

One popular pricing model for MSPs is charging per user. This can range from around $50 to $150 per user per month, depending on the level of service provided. Some MSPs may charge even higher rates, upwards of $200 or $250 per user per month for an all-inclusive experience.

So what do you get for these different pricing tiers? At the lower end of the spectrum, you might receive basic network monitoring and helpdesk support during normal business hours. But as you move up to higher pricing tiers, you can expect more comprehensive IT management services, such as 24x7 network monitoring, off-hours call and patching support, and even dark web monitoring.

Of course, not all MSPs offer the same services at each pricing tier. Some may include additional services like project work, Auvik monitoring, or quarterly vulnerability scanning. Others may offer dedicated Virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) services or Security Operations Center (SOC) teams for an additional fee.

So how do you know what pricing tier is right for your business? It depends on your specific needs and budget. Some businesses may only require basic monitoring and helpdesk support, while others may need a more comprehensive IT management solution. It's important to work with your MSP to understand what services are included at each pricing tier and which ones you may need to add on.

Overall, pricing MSP services can be complex and nuanced, but with the right knowledge and guidance, you can make informed decisions about what services to invest in and at what cost. Watch this video to learn more about how to price MSP services and make the best choice for your business.

I just had my first “so what’s your budget” meeting to see what I would be able to offer a client. This video gave me the confidence to come up with reasonable figures that I think will work. My business has a twist though where we do traditional MSP stuff, but we handle building out front end and backend entirely so we bill that at a much higher rate for the initial production set up (we also set up a dedicated QA environment on prem, prem being short for the server rack in my garage)

Thanks Harrison! We're a new MSP and I think our offering is really good, but I've been wondering if our pricing isn't- this helped a lot. Our average price per person (1 person 1 computer) is $275- we charge a fee per physical commercial location (no fee for remote) as well, but we include all networking equipment costs like routers, firewalls, switches, VPN/Cloud Gateway services, etc. I feel less anxious brining up our pricing now :D

Thanka for taking the time to explain all this. When you mention 100 per seat, do you mean that if the client has a Router, switch and 10 computers, you charge them $1200 a month for monitoring amd remediation?

@Growth Generators From what I've seen from fellow MSPs on different forums, they are charging excess onsite hours as par of Time and Labor costs. I was thinking of charging up to 250/user that only includes up to four devices (ex. 1 desktop, 1 laptop, 1 phone and 1 tablet – they can mix and match). Then a certain amount after going over the maximum of devices and then including up to 10 hours of onsite work per month and then charge a discounted rate after exceeding those hours. What's your opinion on this?

what about physical server and per VM pricing for file, dc, and app server? For 17 computers 1 physical server, 4 virtual machines I am billing only $1100 a month. This is for support only, does not include any licenses. I probably get called once every 2 weeks for that money.

When you say all in, would you include add move or change? We allow clients all you can eat at 150$ per seat covering keeping existing systems working, any changes are billed at a discounted rate (20 percent off) regular rate.

We include EDR and 24/7 SOC, Web filters, email filters, Network mon, Phishing simulations,

For the $250 per user, does that include m365 business premium?

Project work included in $150-$200 a month? Always billing separate for it. $100 a seat really isn't enough to pay for everything.

I have a potential new client. It’s only 3 employees. They’re looking for a new MSP company. $75 to $100 per seat and to offer all the services mentioned would be…say $300 a month. That sounds very low. Did I get it right ? I am in a populated city area, South Florida.

Is it worth doing an "hours per month at $X per hour, per seat" offer?
