I went half way, and its served me well. (Chevy Volt). 50 miles on a charge, or 40 MPG after that. Naturally GM quit making them.

I have a model3 and a leaf. For city driving, electric is the best. If you road trip a lot, try a plug in hybrid. You are mostly driving electric, but can still drive across country conveniently on the road trips.
