This is probably one of the best produced and engineered songs in the history of music. Absolutely unbelievably artistic arrangement. It's got everything. Chord progression, an amazing bridge (used twice, the second was longer), mysterious lyrics, and powerful emotion. Rio came out in 1982 and Save a Prayer was released as a single right before the title cut but failed to chart in the United States.

Three years later in the spring of 1985 (long after the runaway success of "Seven and the Ragged Tiger") Duran Duran elected to include Save a Prayer in their set list for the Tiger tour as well as the studio version which later went on the (mostly) live Arena album. This time, the track made it to #16 on the Billboard Hot 100. With four younger sisters who were all Duran Duran fanatics, I got to see them live twice as the only member of the family at that time who could drive them to the Worcester Centrum and PCC. As a guy, I could have cared less how cute my sisters thought they all were. The music itself was impeccable. They worked very hard to become good and all the money and popularity was well earned and well deserved.
