In memory of my mum who told a version of this as a poem every year when we were children. She made it her own, which didn't rhyme at the end and she'd laugh as we looked confused as little children. Lovely memory. X

Every Christmas till he was too sick to do it my father would play Santa for the kids at our church and for nursing home, etc. I still have the Polaroid of me sitting on his lap in his suit, beard and wig. It wasn’t until I was older that I found out it was my dad who was Santa in the picture. He passed in December of 84 due to heart failure. Not a Christmas doesn’t pass that I don’t pause and remember him. It takes a special demeanor to play Santa Clause, my dad had that.

I love this song because it reminds me of that time I got to talk to Santa and tell him what I would like for Christmas and get my picture taken with him. Thank you for this beautiful cover of this song, Merry Christmas 🎄
