Cheap Trick's Cheap Trick at Budokan, initially a Japan-only release, went triple platinum and propelled their success in the U.S. Kate Bush became the first female artist to top the UK charts with a self-written song, and in 2016, she held eight albums in the UK Top 40 simultaneously. Leonard Cohen, who had retired to a Zen retreat, was forced to return to touring at 71 after his manager stole $5 million, leaving him nearly broke.

Why do you show a photo of Rebecca DeMornay, the actress when talking about Cohen?

The Devo hats looked like this silicone lid opener for small soda caps up to giant pickle jars. My mother bought it right around the time Whip it came out

The studio version of I Want You to Want Me is slow, and drags. The live version from Budokhan (sp?) kicks ass.

"I Want You to Want Me" remains a the Cheap Trick song heard most on the radio. The screaming young Japanese girls really enjoyed a great performance of the tune.

Luckily, the theft caused cohen to have to return to recording and touring, so we got more albums and I got to see him live.

Cheap Trick At Budokan was third 3rd U.S. LP. Both their self titled debut & In Color, their 2nd were released in 1977. Budokan wasn't released in the U.S. until 1978. Most of the songs on it are from In Color.

You should mention that twenty one pilots was the third “rock” act to have two simultaneous hits in the top 5 after Elvis and Beatles. Even though they’re not really rock
