We used to only have one-way letters in WW2.. now we can see an interaction between a soldier and their families; which is even more heart shattering.

"Mama, I'm afraid"
I cannot imagine how a parent must feel, knowing that those are the final words of their son, I would go mad.

This is heartbreaking. “We were told they would welcome us” says it all

One death is a tragedy. A million may be a statistic, but behind every number is a person. With a life. With desires. With loved ones. With hopes and dreams. With responsibilities to others.

Respect to Ukraine’s ambassador - he isn’t talking about these dead Russian soldiers like a heroic action, or some great achievement, he’s talking about the lives lost on the enemy’s side as a great tragedy, and a great sadness.

We must remember each other’s humanity - in the cruellest times, kindness becomes the most precious commodity.

I’m impressed by his compassion toward the Russian troops. He is really getting to the fundamental issue, old men make war, and young people pay for it with their lives. Every time someone dies, Russian or Ukrainian, it’s tragic.

Actually made me cry. We need more stories like this. People see statistics and they don't see an individual life.

It’s so crazy how war literally never changes. A letter to a mother is a text message in the modern day.

"Papa is asking if he can send you a package..."
As someone who is taking care of his 83 year old dad and 70 year old mom, that hits me really hard.

Imagine your son of only 19, gets conscripted, and goes off to do military training... then you get these texts from him, and he never returns. How heart breaking!

“In war the politicians give ammunition, the rich give the food and the poor give their children…

When the war is over the politicians get back the leftover ammunition, the rich grow more food and the poor search for the graves of their children.” -Serbian Saying

Everyone is a victim to this senseless war, except for the one who started it. My heart goes out the mother who lost her son.

This is extremely heartbreaking for the people who were sent out to war, their families, and innocent civilians, I hope y’all people in any war are doing well, and staying strong, your not alone in this comrade.

Russian mothers and fathers need to stand up for their children stuck in this pointless 'war' More stories need to be broadcast like this. This is humanity in all its forms laid out for everyone to see.

They may have been trained to be a soldier, dress like a soldier, and act like a soldier, but at the end of the day they are someone’s son, daughter, mother, father, brother, sister and a dear friend. I pray for Ukraine, and I pray for the soldiers, both Ukrainian and Russian. This is a loss on both sides, we need peace not war, I hope this is resolved peacefully ❤️

This shows exactly how both Russians and Ukrainians feel about this entire situation.
