Welcome to Day 13 of the 150 Days Coding Challenge by Gaurav Pandey! In this live session, we will solve the LeetCode "Third Maximum Number" problem (LeetCode 414) and explain the most efficient coding solutions. If you're preparing for FAANG (Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google), Microsoft, Snapchat, Bloomberg, and other top tech company interviews, this session is for you!
🔹 Problem Statement: Third Maximum Number
Given an integer array nums, return the third distinct maximum number in this array. If the third maximum does not exist, return the maximum number.
✅ Example 1:
Input: nums = [3, 2, 1]
Output: 1
Explanation: The third maximum is 1.
✅ Example 2:
Input: nums = [1, 2]
Output: 2
Explanation: The third maximum does not exist, so the maximum (2) is returned.
✅ Example 3:
Input: nums = [2, 2, 3, 1]
Output: 1
Explanation: The third maximum is 1.
📌 What You Will Learn in This Video?
✅ How to approach the Third Maximum Number problem efficiently
✅ Optimized solutions using Sorting, Sets, and Priority Queues (Heaps)
✅ Time Complexity Analysis of different approaches
✅ Best Practices for Competitive Programming & LeetCode Problems
