Headcanon time! The absolute best part of the Did I mention scene is how no one was surprised about Ben singing of his love for Mal. If you think about it, these are the kids of Disney characters, breaking into spontaneous song about love, and likely other feelings, is probably commonplace. So here's the headcanon, no one really ever believed in the Ben/Audrey relationship because he never sang to her, so when he sang to someone else it wasn't a surprise, especially since it was obvious he had a crush/fascination for Mal.

I don't think outside relationships of Dove and Mitchell played a part in the characters not kissing because it's acting. Additionally, the characters recently began dating and sharing true feelings about the other - minus the part where one was under a spell. I believe Kenny Ortega didn't want to rush their relationship. Just like High School Musical, the leads (Troy and Gabriella) did not kiss in the first movie. As the relationship between Mal and Ben progress, there is no doubt that they won't lock lips. :)
