Climate-smart village (CSV) in Ngakoro, Mali

In Mali, very few farmers can benefit from resources that can ensure more sustainable production, while enabling them to sequester carbon and thereby increase their resilience when faced with climate change. To achieve this triple objective, the Ngakoro community of Mali's climate-smart village, located in the municipality of Cinzana, have tested a climate-smart agro-silvo-pastoral system.

‘’We used to struggle a lot before the implementation of the ‘climate- smart village’. We had no access to water to irrigate our plants. The climate-smart village has enabled us to get water. We also lacked the techniques to cultivate the soil. The climate-smart village taught us these techniques.”
