Easy trick to follow is the 1/3 rule.
Proportions in thirds will always look balanced. Perfectly demonstrated with the long skirt and cropped jacket

Wear the same color tights as ankle boots and wear any length dress or skirt you want.

The first formal outfit was lovely IMO. I think the cropped jacket is cool and edgy but throws the skirt’s clean and polished look off. The black button top and leather skirt looked very nice also, didn’t look too formal or too frumpy either.
