I was diagnosed with Dupuytrens contracture in my right hand ten years ago. My wife is a horse massage therapist. She suggested I massage the lump in my palm with my other thumb and finger to loosen the tissue mass. In a matter of months my stiffened middle finger returned to normal and the lump reduced in size by 80%. It's a procedure used in massage of adhesions with horses and it works. I liked this better than use of coritosteroids, needle therapies or surgery. I continue this procedure weekly for a few minutes on each hand and it's preventing stiffened fingers. I play mandolin as a hobby so not losing finger dexterity is wonderful.

Mine is painful and my aunt's is painful, too. The hand surgeon who diagnosed me told me it wasn't painful, either! Doctors need to listen and believe us.

Whoever decided to tell people this isn't painful needs to stop. Question--does anyone know if there has been any research into stem cell therapy for Dupuytren's?

I didn’t think I had it because it’s been very painful....maybe the drs should ask the patients how it feels and listen!!!

I find it to be painful as well and it minimizes this disease when doctors say it is a pain free disease. It’s very disrespectful...it would be better to say, “In some people, it may cause pain and discomfort.” It’s hard to support an organization that turns a deaf ear to patients.

How can they say it’s painless when they just described it as a tightening ??! 🤦‍♀️
If you’ve got it you know it’s painful

I was 75 and discovered that I had Dupuytren’s when I saw a hand surgeon about the trigger finger issue. He told me about Dupuytren’s Contracture and suggested trying an enzyme injection. That was painful and didn’t seem to help so I avoided taking more injections via needle directly into the cord. I next opted for surgery on my little finger with helped the trigger finger problem; after several months my other hand started having issues with one finger and I had that operated on. Then my thumb became triggering and my wrist was very painful so those got operated on.

A year later I have several other fingers that are just starting to get trigger finger and the Dupuytren’s is getting worse for pain in the palm of both hands. At times I will rub CBD oil onto the hands to help with the pain. I’m now thinking I’ll have to visit the surgeon again and see what might be next for treatment; I believe I’ll try more injections to see if that helps. The pain of injection is over in 24 hours and the surgery seems to be a week of pain afterwards.

Am 70 years age and my first lump appeared in my early 30's.  Since then I have had six surgeries and, just last week, I had my first Xiaflex injection.  The needles hurt like hell but my index finger went from a 25 degree angle to an 80 degree angle... in a 24 hour period.  Best to you other members of our Dupytrend club!

Just got my first nodule (67, female, Northern European ancestry). My nodule is not painful, and I think just having the nodules must be different from actually having the contractions (although they need to clarify that, since so many of the comments here state that they do have pain). I'm curious as to whether genetic markers have been found (that information is ambiguous here). I recently had a full medical genetic analysis done, and no markers were found for anything, but I don't know if they tested for this particular marker. My primary concern is that I'm an attorney, and I am constantly on the keyboard, so having 2-3 of my fingers contracted would make it difficult to work (unless voice to text improves over the next few years).

I'm finding great relief being relentless. Stretching, massaging, vibrator and arthritis salve.

They claim to be able to regenerate full thickness hair and pore bearing skin using a stem cell like mixture? Could this be helpful for a surgical Dupuytrens fix. Im thinking unlimited graft material and scarless hearing. There tech could also apply to fascia repair so maybe possible to excise both fascia and full thickness dermis. Just a though.
