How to Make a Rainbow Colours at Home Easy?
To demonstrate dispersion of light,
teacher sets up an experiment. With a plastic bowl of water makes an angle with
mirror placed in it. Allows sunlight to fall on mirror as shown. Why is a spectrum observed on the white card board ?
The mirror and the water in the bowl collectively act like a prism. We know when sunlight passes through a prism and allow it to fall on a screen there are seven colours seen on the screen. These are Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red.
The splitting of white light into different colours (VIBGYOR) is called Dispersion of light.
