Protecting wombats from mange disease | University of Tasmania

Показать описание
Dr Scott Carver and his team are studying the impact of sarcoptic mange on Tasmanian wombats.
Sarcoptic mange is an introduced disease caused by a small mite that burrows into the wombat's skin. It results in painful itching and hair loss, triggering an immune response that leads to death in infected individuals.
The researchers are conducting trials on the effectiveness of an anti-parasite cream in treating the disease - and the results to date are promising.
