Crapa pelada
(di T. Giacobetti – Gorni Kramer)

A voi, miei signori, io voglio narrare
la storia che tanto mi fa disperare:
son già sette mesi che vedo cadere
dal capo i capelli pian pian.
Ormai son pelato, deluso, avvilito, non so quali cure adottar.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!
I sò fradei fann la fritada, ghe ne dann minga a Crapa Pelada.
Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!

Crapa Pelada l'ha fà i turtei, ghe ne dà minga ai sò fradei.
I sò fradei fann la fritada, ghe ne dann minga a Crapa Pelada.

Crapa Pelada l'ha fà i turtei, ghe ne dà minga ai sò fradei.
Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!

Perche?" Non so, com'è? Chissà?
Perché? Perché? Perché non so.

Paraparapapapaparaparpapappapatarapà
parapapapà Sei tu?

Crapa pelada, crapa pelada
crapà crapà crapà crapà

aaaaaaahhhhh
bidibabidibidaibabadibidibabdibidibù
tatttatà trattattattattattattà

Crapa Pelada l'ha fà i turtei, ghe ne dà minga ai sò fradei.
Oh! Oh!

As an Italian this is actually really hard to sing, I can't even begin to imagine what it's like for an English speaker like the actor who plays Gale. Bravo!👏🏻👏🏻

A lot of people are applauding gale himself for having such an interesting taste in music. But I applaud David Costabile. The actor. He had to learn this entire song and be able to sing this. I have no idea how much work he put into this scene. Not many people realize the talent that went into this.

A little history lession I'm sure even a lot of fellow italians don't know. This song was one of the first italian swing/jazz songs that was permitted in Italy during the fascist regime, the cover by Quartetto Cetra is not the original one of course, and it was used to mock Mussolini, "crapa pelata" means "bald head" in italian, in a very ironic way, something more on the line of "domehead". The reason american-style music was not permitted in fascist Italy is pretty obvious, censorship was everywhere, and it was only after Mussolini started to enjoy american swing that this style of music was permitted, kinda around the time Italy was starting to lose the war.
The lyrics is about a nasty balding man that becomes increasingly egoistic, preparing a dish of tortelli for himself and leaving his brothers to starve, in a figurative way, and it's not satified with his balding nature, wanting to become something more, and eventually his greed and wrongdoing comes around kicking him in his ass. Now, of course this fits the person of Mussolini, but also the character of Walter, so this is why it got used in the show. Great musical taste by Vince Gilligan.

For non-Italians
This song is in a very narrow northern Italian dialect, and I, as a southern Italian, find it impossible to sing (partially even understand) it. The actor has achieved something very superhuman in being able to sing it with an almost perfect accent.

in my opinion the choice of this song is not accidental. The song talks about a desperate man who no longer knows what cure to take against his hair loss, cooking "turtei" however makes him forget the desperation caused by his hair loss. Let's say that in this case instead of "turtei" something else is cooked, but the reference is clear in my opinion

We need a Gale Boetticher Prequel where he cooks his coffee and Pizza with his chemistry skills all the time 😌

This Song was written in Italy during fascism and It's ironically refered to Mussolini (bald head = crapa pelada) . This song wasn't censored by Fascism because it wasn't clearly refered to Mussolini... but there were many allusions to the dictator: for example "tortei" (tortellini) It's a particular type of pasta made in Emilia Romagna, the region where Mussolini was born.

Sorry for my english

I'm Italian but it's impossible to understand what he says. Especially from min 1:36. Part of the song in dialect of Milan and for this reason is very difficult and
The actor who played Gale made really a great job
