I'm Jodie, welcome to my channel where I share weekly ideas and tips for creating space in our lives to enjoy more of life's simple pleasures.

This topic is personal and near and dear to me. We sold a townhouse we loved in the big city of Atlanta and bought a 100 year old house in small town South Carolina in an effort live a slower and and more intentional life. We are renovating it into our dream home and have big plans to create our own little urban homestead complete with home grown veggies, fruit trees, cut flowers and chickens.

Thank you for explaining the difference in these styles. I used to be English more when it was not cool and I caved and went more whites and shiplap but I always craved the French and English style. We are building a new home so now is the perfect time to travel back to ME!

I love all things cottage, and like you, I am somewhere between the English and French...heavy on the French! But I love every thing cozy, warm, formal, and prestigious about English! I think you are right about “cottagecore” being more “fantasy” but also a healthy dose of irony.

I like a simpler elegant french look with southern muted moodiness and a touch of English teatime. Stormy blues, sagey piney colors, antique brass, a vertical mauve rose print as an accent. Anything from french provincial to worn wood furniture tied together with that vintage or cottage core lacy feminine romanticism and a Thomas Kinkade scene. Or that's my outdated part lol.

I like French cottage because… well it’s country but it’s still cultured/sophisticated (but not as stiff and preppy as English)

I was surprised when you said you were going back to Vintage Cottage ..I was thinking going to like 40s 1950s Then I suppose jump around through to more modern style vintage

My style is a mix between Cottagecore and English, I have like a Victorian country cottage going on, has a bit of a Hobbit hole feel as well.
