Thank you for this video, man. It’s really useful to watch an edited, non-demo version of someone actually using the tool. It is a great complement to some of the somewhat useful demo videos out there. I’m still sold on the unit, but this sets a much more realistic and useful expectation.

I think for me this tool is less about speed and more about being hands on and tactile. Writing automation is gonna be so natural and fluid <3

Nothing beats a Wacom pen tablet in combination with a daw… very natural control of everything on your screen

it is all about workflow, and what you prefer. No controller is "needed" but they are probably good to have (again, depending on your workflow, and how willing you are to put some time to learn to use it), cause there's always a learning curve, with any new addition (be it hardware or software/plugins) to your studio. It is like the ball mouse from Kensington many pro studios use.

Great video still on the fence about purchasing the CS12. A side question - how is your setup with your controllers over the keyboard? I'm running out of desktop space and looking for solutions - thanks

@Logic Pro X Life The CS12 does actually have jog wheel functionality. You can either use the main data knob or hold shift and turn the tempo or zoom knobs to reaasign them to that or another function.

Very useful to seehow/if it works when used by a pro eg issues with controller mapping. These kind of things can be maddening and think I'll wait until they map VIs before reconsidering

Interesting and thx. I love my CS12. [Small note - your overhead camera blocks the plug in window sometimes so we can’t see what is happening ….] JPMusic

Would you have any idea why the fader will not control volume when I switch from one channel to the next? If I switch back a forth a few times, it sometimes begins to work again. When it doesn't work, I hit Shift+Select twice and control comes back.

I wonder if the ICON P1-X expander will work with the CS12?

Nice videos, do you know if it’s possible to control multiple of the same plugins across multiple channels at the same time ? Thank you

Sometimes the CS12 wouldn’t load if I already had Logic open first then turned it on (sometimes).
Another thing that happened because I have to use it hybrid with a mouse. When I’d click on a track with a mouse for some reason it’d open a plug-in that was on that track. When I noticed that. I kept clicking on other tracks with the mouse and it’d do the same on every track I clicked on it’d open a plug-in. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Oh early adopter problems…😔

I'm using the Logic Pro remote app on the iPad Pro...and still exploring it as a control surface. Apart from the tactical feel, and the presentation / display of the 'smart' controls and instrument parameters...I haven't yet been convinced that tactile faders and knobs will work for me...but I'm still open minded about them, the CS12 and any other control surfaces if it means I can focus on the music...having said all of that..I still find I'm running out equipment, six or other buttons, knobs or sliders to adjust the parameters intuitively whilst playing with the other hand...so maybe another iPad or get a tactical CS?

Hi, Did you find out what spooked your set up at then and it all crashed..Im having so many problems with USER and Software plugins assigned. It's all over the place, and causes crashes like you showed, also when I finally assigned something, it doesn't go away when I open a different software instrument. ..do you think its something to do with having another controller attached, like you have. I have ARTIST mix.

thanks for these videos on the CS12 ! sorry if you have already explained this somewhere but can you say how you managed to fit it into your workflow in terms of space? its there next to the icon on top of your controller keyboard? how do you have them there without slipping off and/or accidentally triggering buttons on your controller keyboard? i'd love to try the CS12 but i just cant figure out where i would put it!

Does it do Serum and other VSTis? I didn't see a VSTi being controlled in this demo.

Why, why, why, Why, WHY, doesn't someone build a trackball with right and left mouse buttons into a controller? Then your hands can stay on the controller (which the exception of the typing keyboard, of course). I've used the Panorama P1, a FaderPort 8 for some time, and ATOM SQ, all for either Reason (P1) or Studio One (the rest) and don't understand why designers don't drop a small trackball on one side with right-left mouse buttons on the other. I suppose that there might be some issues with right/left handedness. But, most people can adapt to this with simple practice. Why? Or, more aptly, Why Not!?

I'd need bi-focal glasses to even consider it.

Hey I was wondering if you have tried an apple Trackpad2 instead of your mouse?

I just invested in your setup, icon platform m and CS12. I'm thinking about getting the B+ model to custom map shortcuts the CS12 can't do, and then doing more custom mapping on CS12 to get MIDI effects and VST control too. And a trackball mouse, sick of my track pad i learned on a board so this set up will feel nostalgic and make me excited to mix!!
