Between inflation and monetary debasing 4% is losing money...your wealth will be melting away as James(IA) says "with 14% u r just treading water". As Michael says 'watch the S&P and that will reflect how much buying power u r losing'. In other words that 10, 12, or 14% each year is just maintaining your buying power...with gold u will have lost your buying power throughout the years.
