Dents finest moment.

He truly was a good man.

This is a truly brilliant scene, and speech! "We're not doing this because we're angry, we're doing it because we're scared" is such a great line here.

"One day the Batman will answer for the laws he's broken. But to us. Not to this madman"
Always liked that line! The idea that Batman, even though being an outlaw that is necessary, in the end must face the law he is protecting. But he will answer to the good people he served. That's noble.

Alfred was 100% right here. Batman is something Rachel never truly understood. It’s not that Bruce needed Batman. It’s actually that Gotham needed Batman (regardless of whether the people liked it or not in this situation). Both Harvey and Bruce knew this well enough which is why they made their respective choices.

Rachel just assumes he’s a coward who can’t let go of Batman. The city needed Batman even if they didn’t know it. it was the only way.

(Who tf else would’ve stopped the Joker?💀 Harvey turned himself in but the Batman was able to save him. If Bruce turned himself in he would’ve died and no one would’ve been able to stop the Joker. Batman was the only hope)

Do those people SERIOUSLY think that Batman turning himself in will stop the Joker from killing people? How stupid are these people? What Harvey is saying couldn’t be more true. Hear him out for once!

“The night is darkest before the dawn. But I promise you, the dawn is coming.”

Harvey Dent didn’t sugarcoat the situation.

More bad is gonna happen before positive change really takes place.

And while that is someone no one wants to hear, it’s the honest truth.

Rachel's reaction pisses me off. Does she not see how Harvey falsely turning himself in is a ploy to throw the Joker off while also keeping Batman active?

This film really stayed true to the essence of The Long Halloween where these 3 great men from complete opposite positions of power, who's job it was to protect Gotham, united for the common good. Amazing stuff.

Brilliant acting as you can feel Bruce wants to intervene and say something

I love this scene and but breaks my heart because Harvey Dent was such a good man, arguably the best of Batman and even Gordon. He transformed into something completely different but that's the point of this movie, to show you that anyone, and I mean anyone, can change and become evil.

It wasn't even that he had a secret dark side or was evil all along like some Two-Face interpretations, it was that he allowed terrible circumstances of losing a loved one to turn him into something evil. But he always had a choice and he allowed himself to succumb to his grief and become the madman he was trying to destroy.

But even his fall has irony when compared against Batman because Batman also lost everything. He lost his parents and he lost Racheal just like Harvey. But her loss didn't break him the way it broke Harvey, he did not let it corrupt him. The film makes it clear that he we all have a choice when it comes to good and evil. You decide who you want to be, it's always up to you.

The best Batman Movie ever. The night is darkest before the dawn. Bring back the Dark Knight.

I've seen this movie countless times, and every time I find a different scene to love. Like this one. Dent's speech is so spot on. And the people's reaction is exactly what a crowd would think. No dead cops! You can see Dent physically flinch at that because he understands their fear, their desperation. One thing though - I still don't know at point do Wayne and Gordon come up with this plan? Had to include faking his death. So watching Wayne's "acting" as he's about to reveal himself just shows how good he really is at wearing a mask. Even in plain sight.

Rachel never truly understood batman and that's why she makes the wrong choice. By the way Alfred burning her letter helps her too. Let her be remembered as someone who understood Bruce and wanted to make a life with him when he was ready to let his anger go. Alfred corrected her mistake for her, if she had lived with Harvey she would come to realize her mistake herself at some point anyway.

I love how people clap to honor Harvey when he's arrested

1:17 "I am the Batman"

Later, he falls and half of his face is destroyed and blames everyone for Rachel's death

Second to Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart nailed his role. That confidence and a politician like body language speaks a whole lot

All those people clearly didn’t understand, appreciate, or even care what the idea of the Batman was supposed to be any more than Rachel did.

Of course, it’s part of human nature for people to want someone to blame when they’re scared or angry

It’s sad to see how Harvey is trying to reason with the people that turning in Batman won’t solve the problem Batman Gordon and Harvey been fixing which is ridding Gotham of crime, like Harvey said, they’re giving the terrorist demands because they’re scared, the people think about saving lives now, but what about lives in the future. Batman in cage, mobs have no obstacle, crime comes back. The people don’t think about the long run, if you want a brighter future you gotta make sacrifices and be ready for hard/dark times. I think about WWII, literally hell on earth and the allied forces did a lot of nasty stuff and the world did got worse as the war continued but it had to be done to stop facist Germany and Italy and imperial Japan. Yeah over 60 million people died and half the world destroyed but the future could’ve been terrible or the death toll could’ve reached over 100 million if the US didn’t enter rather the people didn’t like it or not. “If you want peace prepare for war”

You know when Bruce looked at Harvey turning himself in, I heard a voice when I was in the theater 15 years ago and I still hear it to this day: *This is my chance to catch him*
