Inside An Architect’s Own Curved 3-Room HDB Home In Bedok North

This week, we visit an architect’s own home in Bedok North. Kenneth and his puppy Jinko are staying in a 3-room HDB sized at 732 square feet. He chose a neutral palette and restricted the choice of materials to just 2 or 3 to keep things consistent. Kenneth tried a different design language here, with a single horizon line of 0.9m that carries throughout the space.

One of the highlights of the home is definitely the dramatic arch just behind the dining that he uses as an ever-changing gallery. He used a custom long 3m dining and study table which also helps to accentuate the length of the space.

Finally, the master bathroom was expanded to twice the normal size to accommodate a proper shower. Kenneth also used tiles here that remind you of the surface of the moon.

Well done on pushing the one concept throughout the apartment. It's minimal in its own way and does provide a calming space. I can imagine how easy it is to maintain such a beautiful and timeless home when there's no clutter. I bet there are others who are envious that they're unable to maintain such a simple and slow living lifestyle, but thank goodness all they can do is make snarky comments. 💯💯

I watched many stacked homes design; this is one of the BEST

Simple, and tasteful. That's what more homes should be. Fluted panel as wall feature isn't hard to clean or maintain. I haven't heard of anyone who cleans their walls even without a wall panel. 😅

Superb bachelor pad. It's actually 732 sqft not 914 sqft. With 914sqft he could have an additional bedroom even after tearing the other one down.

Wow... your design ideas and completed vibes completely strip off the familiarity of 3 room HDB flats! Of what we normally expect of a typical unit when we pass by the corridor is completely challenged. Makes one wonder what else is possible? Good job! 👏👏👏

Nicely done up flat, nothing like the common cookie cutter design style! I wonder is the flooring micro cement?

This is really beautiful! I'm wondering how much the fluted panels would have cost alone though?
