I have a BBA in Finance from a Texas university. If u didn't go to a target school like NYU or Wharton then you're not going to get a wall street job. Harsh reality. There are other well paying jobs relevant to this degree just gotta look

This is why you should go to a college that’s specifically well known for whatever degree you’ll major in. I go to Baruch in NYC and this college has a lot of business degrees and is known for being a good business school.

Comp Sci graduate here- going back to school for accounting. Why? Tech market is insanely saturated. And accounting seems to be in high demand.
Tech right now sounds sexy and pay sounds great until you realize that getting started right now is nearly impossible. You need to be a top college grad, have multiple internships and preferably work experience in that market. Know above and beyond college level courses. I’m sorry they didn’t teach me react native or AWS in college. Internships were mostly small web dev and data stuff. Plus since those tech layoffs you have a flood of experienced devs looking for jobs just to hold them over.

I got my entry level qualification to get into finance. Now that I have experience and know that this is something I wanted to do until I retire I can go to uni and pursue it to become a specialist that only a few cuts for it. Experience, skills and knowledge. High demand + not many specialists = high pay.

U don’t need to go into investment banking right out of college. Yes that would be best but if u don’t it’s not the end of the world. There are still stepping stone jobs that can get u into investment banking or bring u straight to the buy side.
