Good to know by the comments that the Makita battery works with this unit. My main cordless arsenal are Makita, Metabo, Milwaukee and Hilti. Definitely not bringing another player to the party but will probably give this one a go. Cheers Darren.

-This one has promise to me. I would be willing to go for either the DeWalt or Makita versions simply because I do run into times that I need to solder wires back together on a car or other piece of mobile equipment. I currently use a small inverter with an adjustable mains iron, but this would be even more portable. On copper wires, most of the time too hot can be forgiven as long as you can get a good joint in the repair.

Nice presentation. Just recieved mine. I like the holder. It's a great feature. It's right there for you. I'd might be sure to seat the iron all the way through to minimize heat transfer to the plastic case. It does seem it is designed fairly well to minimize heat transfer, given compactness. A tip wipe would be nice but difficult to have in compact size. I may make a small one, to attach at the same point as the holder, 'wired' just under it.

I have the version of this that works with the Makita batteries. Like you say nice and portable for site works and super flexible using the T12 / T15 tips. Testing the temperature on mine, the Mellif displays about 50C higher then the thermometer across the range.
I do find that the units needs to be mounted on a battery to give it stability. It is too light and moves around if just plugged into an AC adapter, the battery lifts the iron tip of the desk surface as well, when it is stored in the 'iron holder'.
For the odd soldering job out on site it does me fine.

It looks cheaply made but maybe it’s as good as it needs to be for a portable battery powered soldering station. Great review Darren, enjoy your channel.

Interesting. I don't think I've seen battery-powered soldering stations like this one. You can never go wrong with T-12, but this one is pretty unique. 🤔

Milwaukee or Ryobi batteries and I might be tempted.

Wonder if the accuracy is the same with the adapter instead of the battery? Seems like youd have to have a specific need for this to be worth the battery and or adapter cost, kinda pricey either way and i wonder if those batteries are same ones as for the dewalt drills? If so it would be convenient since you wouldnt have to buy a specific battery just borrow from what you already have. Feels like an occasional use item in once in awhile circumstances.

Finally, a T12 soldering iron! Shame on its controller, the T12 cartridges do need calibration and it is ARM based, just like the STM32s most of these soldering irons use, could have added extra features. But that temperature font...Gran Turismo 4? For real?

Stupid idea to waste on button exclusively for C/F switching, and forgot to add a function to calibrate the temperature/tip.

And the T12-tip-holder looks like a crime.

Cheap and portable but usage is questionable as its inaccuracy is taken into consideration.

Funny i have build one myself, i 3D printed the housing and put the Handskit OLED Mini T12 Soldering Station
in it, and soldered the cables from my Handskit OLED Mini T12 Soldering Station to the two connectors were
you put a battery in it (for me Worx 20v battery), and put a QC4.0 QC3.0 Usb Type-C Fast Charging Adapter
6 -35V in it, so i can also fast charge my smartphone and other stuff with it.

Works great.

BTW, i have made 3 extra 4 and 5 Amp battery's myself, also cheaper then buying original battery's, but used
real new quality 18650 cells, and bought some PARKSIDE 20V battery's, and removed the 18650 cells.

Thumbs up as always;). There is no ground to connect to that pin. The power is either from a wall wart that only provides DC or the battery, so there is no ground available to connect to it. So, there is no ESD protection. They could have offered a grounding plug but if you had access to ground then you probably don’t need portable soldering station.
