Theory: catnap was probably one of the nightmare critters but playtime co scrapped the idea and put catnap into the smiling critters.

Baba Chops ( description ) : The "black sheep" of the bunch, Baba prefers to keep her space. Like, a LOT of space. TOO MUCH space. She can be distant, quiet, low-energy, and it usually requires a LOT of coaxing to get her out of the house. Luckily for her, she has some VERY persistent friends. She usually perks up after a while, but the next day, we're right back to the same tune.

I just noticed that they were gonna replace them. The first one we saw the trailer is gonna replace dog day. The second one is gonna replace catnap and the third is gonna have place the smart one and the last ones gonna replace hoppy hopscotch

theory: playtime co wanted to make something a little more relatable towards adults but realised they were targeting for younger children

Honestly, let me explain why I like the idea of the Nightmare Critters being aimed towards teenagers. I like it because from their perspective, this is Playtime Co.'s attempt to combat with the inevitable: that children, like all humans, will grow up and undeniably get to that the point in their lives where they feel that they're, in their own words, "too old for toys".

It’s probably like a Halloween themed smiling critters playtime co did to promote the holiday.

I bet that the Nightmare Critters is a crew of animals that kids afraid of (e.g. spiders, bats, sharks etc)

I Think that in chapter 4 we will be in a another facility that they wanted to cover up like the PLAYTIME CO AMUSEMENT PARK but when that failed they turned it to a place to keep all the children until they turn into toys and some remnants of the original place may remain how in the steam pictures we see a aquarium looking thing and also why would you have a reception desk under the building unless it was supposed to be the entrance to the amusement park

catnap was a nightmare critter but when we see the cage room picture alot of people think that its baba chops cage but its actully catnaps cage and he managed to escape making it to the playcare
