A six-week public consultation is being launched ahead of multi-million-pound plans to build a new link road from the M54 to the M6.
The two-lane carriageway would link J1 of the M54, at Featherstone, to J11 of the M6, for Cannock, under plans by Highways England.
The project will aim to take 22,000 vehicles a day off the A460, which takes traffic from Wolverhampton to Cannock.
And Highways England have released this footage showing what the link road would look like.

I can confirm that traffic does leave the M54 at junction 1 to travel on the A460 and north on M6, and also travels in opposite direction.
If anyone doubts this I suggest they observe the A460 around Featherstone to see the volumes.
This road improvement will help reduce congestion for local traffic. Mike Lawrence

Waste of money - question the figures, traffic does not come off the M54 to go North to M6. This will just create more jams going to Cannock and Cheslyn Hay. But no one is going to listen they never do!
