Beanie Feldstein Announces Early 'Funny Girl' Exit

Graeme O'Neil takes a look at Beanie Feldstein's announcement that she is going to be leaving the Broadway revival of "Funny Girl" two months earlier than originally expected.

You can't star in a musical if you can't sing the score. She mugged through the entire performance which was summer stock caliber like the production. It was embarrassing.
I would have made 80 yr. old Streisand an offer She couldn't refuse and do it. The entire run would have sold in an hour and extended. Her voice is still commanding like Placido Domingo at 81 still singing grand Opera throughout the major Opera Houses in the world. Barbra at 80, on Broadway as Fanny, EPIC.

Since many have commented on the fact that the story just isn't that great, the second act drags. Maybe Ryan. Urphy had the best idea to present these wonderful songs from the point of a modern teenage geek and her quest toward her inevitable Broadway destiny . And Lea carried six seasons, numerous hits, and a stadium tour. I think we should giver her a little slack for being tired and bitchy.

I'm a true belting purist and have seen Beechman & Eder perform and although Lea gives much more of a Streisand-esque mimicry to the songs from Funny Girl from what we've seen, she actually has a fantastic voice. There's no strain there. Beanie is not worth mentioning. Everybody already said it all.

This has nothing to do with the terrible reviews it got, does it? Her family, Jonah Hill, her brother, yes that JONAH HILL, produced it. This is not shocking to anyone.

Beanie actually thought Barbra Streisand was going to fly in to see her riveting performance. She desperately needs a REALITY check. I hope the next actress shows up for her performances, unlike beanie...who had the understudy of the understudy perform last night... totally unprofessional.

You could hate Lee with all the passions of Hades. I don’t care, but thank God she replaced, felt sign. ‘ I’m sorry Feldstein can’t and couldn’t sing, and the only reason she even got that role to begin with is because daddy had the money to give it to her.

Whomever took on this role had massive expectations to overcome. Maybe she's leaving early because she was asked to? She is talented enough to find a project more in line with her gifts.

Bad producing from the start -- should never have cast her to begin with and that's the Producer's fault. Bad performance/singing/acting - and that is on the actress. How wonderful her "lifelong dream" came true -- but the sophomoric performance was better suited for community theatre than a Broadway stage.

Beanie is an entitled person that thanks to her connections got the part, a mediocre singer who was never at the level of the role. She’s leaving because she has been a complete disaster with critics, audiences, Tony’s, she’s embarrassing. Countless actresses were more suitable for the role, she spoiled it for them. Obviously people like the aforementioned Leah would be brought to the show, but the damage is done

This production was a misfire from the start what a mess for Beanie. Lea for sure coming in, although I feel bad cause the overall production values are lacking as well as a lackluster economic orchestra and chorus.

For me what is sad that even though she was not right for the role, but it does not give people the right to bully her or be so mean to her.
