Tiny but POWERFUL Sony Camera

I am amazed with the cool shots I was able to get with such a tiny, affordable camera. It's not perfect, and some of it's flaws are annoying, but for some the pros might outweigh the cons.

Full name of the camera is Sony DSC-V1. The filter I am using is called the Kolari IR Chrome filter. The filter adapter is some generic one. Just Google "Sony DSC-V1 filter adapter".

21 of these cameras sold on ebay today. But only two sold in the five days previous. Every time you make one of these videos you influence a lot of collectors!

Before watching,
This camera holds so many memories
Basically all of my childhood pics were taking on it by my family.
I am really shocked about how good the pictures are by todays standard.
In good lighting, They really don’t look like a 20+ years old camera!

The shot with the mailbox and house in the back, surrounded by red, is really excellent

Thank you for posting this hack, I've always been curious about trying ir photography. I am absolutely blown away after trying this with my F707 and it worked!

Fun fact: you can use a variable neutral density filter as a continuous color-to-IR blend!

I once tried to take pictures with my A7ii while riding my bike on a group ride. Someone stopped really quick in front of me and I only had my left hand available which unfortunately corresponded with the front brakes. I flew over the front of the bike and smashed the camera on the asphalt. Somehow, even with the lens popping off the body, it was fine. Nothing broken! I got lucky, but suffice to say, you're right in being cautious about your camera choice while riding! Great video as usual!

This video makes me want to go out there and shoot more with my Sony DSC-V3. I've had it for a while but I've been using other digicams such as my Canon PowerShot G6 and Sony DSC-S85. The laser AF on the V3 is so cool and reminds me of your video on the F717, and the test shots I took look very promising. Sony's designs for their CyberShot cameras were something else, with all of their unique product lines for different ideas.

Thank you for covering this filter. I had put off buying the IR chrome but you inspired me to pick one up. I’ve tried it on several full spectrum modified bodies and I’m finding the best results on my SDQH with the teal and orange preset. If you still have your Sigma SD Quattro H, I definitely recommend popping out that IR cut filter and giving it a try with the Kolari IR chrome. It’s my favorite Kodachrome setup so far.

I don't get why other cameras don't have removable hot mirrors. If they placed it a few mm in front of the sensor it would also prevent dust from getting on the sensor and giving these annoying spots.

Have had a concept rolling around in my head for years that this camera could be perfect for. With such a low barrier to entry, I had to snatch one up. I am looking forward to giving this a try and seeing how it fits my needs. Wonderful video as usual. Thank you for the recommendation

i have two of them. One I got for $2 at a church thrift store and the other I got at a flea market for $5. both had the charging cords, batteries (One of them came with 2 batteries), memory sticks (256mb for both), and one even came with a bag. I bought the extension tube for threaded filters, and this thing is super fun.

I had no idea that Sony made smaller cameras with Night Shot. This one’s really cool!

A snappiness camera I’ve bought before a video came out! The memory cards are annoyingly expensive, but I got a really good price on a very well used copy of it. Such a neat camera with the IR modes and I think the lens is great for what it is.

I had the DSC-V3 and it was a great little camera (well a lot bigger than than the V1). It would make a good choice. In the end, I got rid of the V3 because low light image noise made it pretty useless in low light. It would go to ISO800 but ISO400 was stretching it.
