Trans-rights debate front and center on Capitol Hill

The bathrooms on Capitol Hill are currently the center of the transgender rights debate. Representative Nancy Mace is on a crusade to implement a rule banning transgender women from using the women’s bathrooms at the Capitol.

On Thursday a transgender rights activist interrupted Mace during a conference at Georgetown yelling, "This is ridiculous. This is the day after trans day of visibility. We have had dozens of trans people die this year because of the hate and lies that you are spreading."

Mace’s push was prompted by the election of the first trans-woman to Congress, Delaware's Rep.-elect Sarah McBride.
