Test-drove the Megane E-tech yesterday in Stockholm, you should be able to get it

Facelift should get presented officially by latest end of this year, availability seems to be pushed back to 2023. But definitely still a beast of a comfy car.
Love every drive, even that Audi still has a lot of work when it comes to App reliability and Software…

The sound system sounded fantastic even over video compared to many of the others,

Love the sound when closing the doors. My Model 3 is getting annoying when I’m closing my doors. Plastic fantastic non-premium sound.

Nice. Hopefully you will test the BMW ix40 soon. I think it will have almost the same range with much smaller battery. Would be interesting to compare.

Hej Björn,
even when the car shows Efficency mode, it is not… quite annoying software bug. You have to select the Efficiency Mode everytime you fire up the car. Then it shows E instead of D in the panel …
Audi changed quite a bit on the fat etron… first they have a different charging curve as you already mentioned due to a different battery installed (no more LG but SDI Samsung).
The MMI is also a new hardware compared to old fast etron 😉
But you are right you do not see it 👍

I don't understand why he said the Volvo is better, looking at his own stats, the C40 was driven during way higher temperatures (Audi 2-4 degrees vs Volvo 10-12 degrees) and the range was only slightly better or even worse. 90km/h speed Audi 370km vs Volvo 381km, 120km/h Audi 277km vs Volvo 266km.

Hugging the left lane like a true Audi driver, like a boss

The e-tron have more available battery with higher battery temperatures. Ref slight coldgating after the high speed run, the battery was likely not up to temp then. You get ~82 kWh usable capacity at +10C battery temperature, versus ~86kWh at +25C and above. I think that explains most of the kWh differences between your two runs.

There is actually one major upgrade in the map of the 2022 modell:

You can now see the HPC-chargers even if the map is zoomed faaar out👍

Will you do a more in depth test of the Hongqi EHS9? It has similar price as e-tron. Although bigger, still competitors.

Try to get your hands on the EQE 43 AMG or EQE 350 as soon as it is released for press!

good video as always. consumption of the etron is just ridiculous ...

Hello from Belgium Björn, was the latest software update installed at the time of the test ? It increases the range by 20 to 40 kms . Thank you 👍🏻

Orange brake calipers and seat belts? I thought this was the Black Edition 😝

Tires are 1cm wider than your other fat etron tests. That will raise consumption a bit. Very important testing. Your Google doc is starting to be a gold mine of great data.

yes, the efficiency obviously sucks, but everything else seems to be fine. i hope they really can improve the efficiency in the next version. if they are also introducing a battery with a higher energy density, they could lower the weight for the same energy which might improve the range a bit too and optionally, they could offer a battery with more than 100kWh net capacity.
it will be interesting what they are coming up with. for the switches in the motor control power electronic, they could use SiC technology over GaN, which translates into lower switching losses too. that could add one or two percent of range.

Ohhh Jesus. Got a Taycan charging next to me but it’s on a 50kw but there’s a 350kw 10 miles down the road smh
