Harbor freight now lives rent free in all snapon franchise owners heads

If snap-on would have won that test, no one would be saying that the test is "outdated"

Have YouTuber "Project Farm" do the tests. He is amazing and tests without prejudice.

Taiwan. Not china. But harbor freight still employs more Americans then snap on, by a large margin. So now here’s the real decision. Get a set of wrenches for 500$ and get them made in America. Off a truck that you see twice a month. But the snap on company has 6, 600 American employees. Or, you buy a set of wrenches for 140$ with comparable quality but they are made in a factory in Taiwan and then sent to America, and sold for 1/4 of the price from a business that employs 28, 000 Americans. And with a lifetime no questions asked warranty in a store that has so many locations that you’re probably never more then 30 mins away from a replacement at any time, not just twice a month.

Just imagine the snap on truck comes by at noon, and leaves. You snap a wrench an hour later and now you have to wait two weeks for that truck to come back. Or you snap a wrench and now you drive 30 mins away and get a replacement and ready to work again an hour later. I think it’s obvious who is better for the job.

But snap on is the Gucci brand of tools. They do the same thing but people pay for the name.

I'm a DIYer, who works on my own car to save money. Harbour freight is great for people like me, and I've never over broken a tool. In my eyes they do the exact same thing as snap-on, all while helping me save money. The whole point of being a "drive way" mechanic is to save money, so I'll continue to buy harbor freight.

Unfortunately I can’t afford snap on. Harbor freight is where it’s at

I work 5-11 hour shifts and have all the icon wrenchs. Use them daily, and the only one I broke was the 10mm ratching wrench 3 years ago. When you've bought enough tools and you really don't need to buy much off the truck anymore, keep having your snap on guy or girl show up for only warranty and replacement stuff you'll see how quickly they quit coming around.

Icon is 90% of Snap-On for 25% of the price. Same goes for Gear wrench, Tekton, Facom, etc. Icon is just available in a store near you. It really is the new Sears "Craftsman." I know they are not made in the USA but that does not change the reality.

Im still using craftsman wrenches I got in 1998! Never thought snapon was cost effective.

I have been a mechanic for over 25 years. I own both snap on and icon tools. The icon wrenches work excellent I would say as good as my snap on. I like USA made but not for the price. The icon wrench sets are around $100. Don't make payments on your tools make money with your tools! the icon tools will do everything the snap on will.

Now that im older, i can see that the only people that buy everything snap on (or other truck brands) are either young, naive, or impressionable techs or just clueless people that buy the first thing they see without doing their due diligence into other brands that offer the same at a fraction of the cost. I was one of those people until i realized that.

I'm a licensed tech and I use my wrenches every single day, brakes, service, suspension, everything. I have had the same $30 set of canadian tire wrenches for 13 years and they're sill mint

Icon is genius, has these snap-on dummies going out and buying icon tools

I have both snap on and icon tools. The only complaint I have about icon is if you lose a wrench, you can't just go by that one wrench to replace the one you lost. You literally have to buy a whole new set to get one wrench.

HF the win honey, you can’t compete with them. Great value for what you get.

I've been using a mix of snap on & craftsman since 1997 and some harbor freight tools for about 6 years. They all work fine.
